Greetings and Blessings on a cold and gray last day of February. Winter is taking one last stab at us today with misty rain and icy roads. I am glad and thankful to be giving you this ministry report today. We had to cancel all of December dates and much of January due to heart issues. But thanks to answered prayers of many of you as well as ourselves, on Jan 4, 2019 we received a miracle of medical help from the Lord. I won’t bore you with details except to say that He restored me back to what I had been several years previous. The Special heart surgeon who performed the procedure agreed with me. His words, “I was ready to give up…, it was not me, it was the Lord”. All we can say is Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace to us. You Alone are worthy of all Praise and Glory!!
On Jan. 21, 2019 God called Bro Sal Garcia, one of the great servants of the Lord whom I have known, home to be with Him. He had been “our” missionary through Bayou Drive Baptist Church at Alvin since 1981, in one fashion or another. He set the standard for dedication, soul-winning, hard-working, church-planting, Christ-likeness, and commitment among the men I have known. All he was, he was by the Grace of God. I was his pastor, but Susie and I were good friends with both he and Mrs. Pat. He taught me much about attitude and love for the Brethren and lost souls. We dropped everything and travelled to Albuquerque, NM to be with Mrs. Pat and the family. He was working in Rio Grande Baptist Church there. He had preached all day there previous to going home on Monday. God moved in a powerful way in his family and at the celebration of his home-going. Many pastors and churches were a blessing. He was buried in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. He left Mrs. Pat Garcia, one daughter, one grandson, 5 Bilingual churches which he had been instrumental in starting (that are still going and growing), family, and innumerable lives that have been touched with the Gospel of Jesus, Christ.
We were with Pastor Brian Easley at New Beginning Baptist Church, Edgewood, TX for one Sunday of their Month of Revival Sundays. It was a great day with Bro Brian, Mrs. Staci and this special church. God was in the midst. We were able to participate in one night of Blessed Hope Baptist Camp Meeting, Alvarado, TX, Pastor Steve Lindsey. We had a wonderful worship service there. Due to Bro Sal Garcia’s passing, we were only able to preach one service of the Missions Revival at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Jacksonville, TX, Pastor Dale Harris. This church is on the move and has made a great comeback under Bro. Dale. Their conference was very successful with great growth in Faith Promise. We participated in a two day Preaching Workshop at Lake Worth Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, TX, Pastor Zach Hatton. I preached a Sunday Night for my pastor, Jim Turner at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Ft. Worth, TX.
We have been busy at Texas Theological University and Seminary, involved in one course and taught O.T. Historical Books III. This finished the series on Historical Books. All courses are being prepared and are now offered On Line via Internet. This is a local church, King James Bible, Baptist Doctrine College out of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Trying to offer an economical education for busy pastors and working laymen in churches who cannot drop it all and go to school. At present we offer degrees through Doctorate in four lines of study: Theology, Ministry, Missions, and Christian Education.
With Paul I ask; “Withal, praying for us…That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” Col 4:2-4
