Transitioning Back… March 2023 Update

Greetings and Blessings from the Heart of Texas, to all our friends and fellow laborers. We are living in troubled times aren’t we? The old song said, “Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand, All the ways that God would lead us to that blessed Promised Land…”.  I believe it was Vance Havner who said that “as Christians, we are born to be persecuted”. Yet amid all the daily circumstances, we have a Blessed Hope.

As the Saints—that is the Saved, Born-again, Children of our Heavenly Father through the blood of Jesus Christ, that is a lengthy description, but we should let the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit remind us of our standing in our Lord. Paul often reminded the church of these things as a means of encouraging them for the trials that they were going through.

When we are discouraged, we should likewise encourage ourselves in the Lord. Begin with prayer and an open the Bible. I often go back to the prison & pastoral epistles of Paul but Psalms and the Old Testament examples work as well. Just let Him speak to your heart. Here is a short sample out of Paul’s letter to the Church at Ephesus. In a brief statement in chapter one we find the following statements.

We are so thankful to be counted in the Appointed, the Adopted, and Accepted in the Beloved, Ephesians 1:4-6. There we; Abound in His Redemption, Apprehend the mystery of His will, and Anticipate His gathering us to Himself and to our inheritance in the purpose of His will, Ephesians 1:7-12. Somewhere along here the song writer got encouraged and said: “We are trusting in the Lord and according to His Word, We will understand it better by and by. When the saints of God are gathered home, We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome for we’ll understand it better by and by.”

I have found out that although we have a new pastor and he is laying a great foundation for the health of our church, even seeing souls saved regularly that my responsibilities continue on to my home church somewhat. All that to say that I am off to a slow start in my ministry. Flu or Covid, I’m not sure which knocked me out of serving in a Bible Conference in Bayou Drive Baptist Church at Alvin, TX where Thomas Bolton is pastor. I was able to participate somewhat at Blessed Hope Baptist Church Camp Meeting in Alvorado, Tx, Pastor Steve Lindsey. I was only able to make part of that meeting. We were very involved in the sickness and homegoing of a great soldier of Christ and a great friend Bro Tom Gaudet. He was one of the missionaries out of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Now God is opening doors I am booking meetings going forward from this letter.

Susie and I are looking forward to all that the Lord wants to do with us this year. We pray often for many friends in the many churches that the Lord has allowed us get to know. Please know that we pray for you that are on this newsletter list. In the midst of the tumult & turmoil, the straining & striving of these days, we need His presence and power more than ever before. We need the care and prayers of each other, so we ask “Finally, brethren pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course as it is with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1.

Your Friends and Fellow Laborers,

Bro. Wayne and Mrs. Susie
